Description
Location : Banua Patra Beach, Balikpapan, East Borneo, Indonesia
Gears : EOS 350D, Tamron 17-50 F/2.8, Rusty Cheap Velbon Tripod, Visico CPL, Hitech 0.9 Gradual ND
Take :
to reach this angle i was plunged into the water about thigh level, i dare took all the risk because i saw the waves wasn't big. my friends behind have warned me to take care of the gears from sea water splash, they are so kind and really care.. one of them here is
i used Av (aperture Priority) program and set to evaluative for metering reading on f/16 and adjust the exposure compensation to -1/3 stop because the light was still to strong. after i got the speed reading, i switched the program to Manual mode and set at F/16 2 sec to avoid the change of exposure reading. Manual Focusing, turned the polarizer to its best position i want then apply the Gradual ND with handheld ( poorly i got no holder ) .. pressed the shutter with timer and mirror lockup enabled to avoid microshake..
post proc :
adobe camera raw, decrease the exposure a bit. daylight WB.
PSCS2 ... color balance, level, auto contrast, use my "gradual PS" trick to darken the sky a bit more
and finally crop and resize the image for upload.
